Burnham FC maintained their fine form in the FA Cup as they edged into the next round of the competition with a 1-0 win against Northwood on Tuesday night.
Gavin James’ 12th-minute penalty was the difference between the two sides at full time as the Blues picked up their third win of the tournament.
On Twitter, Burnham boss Ashleigh James said: “WE DONE IT. Asked for a reaction and my god we got it. Northwood FC [are] a very good footballing side with lots of talent but tonight was our night, in to the next round.”
It was a perfect response for Burnham who had been knocked out of the FA Vase just three days earlier to Penn and Tylers Green.
In front of a crowd of 150, Dean Allen scored the only goal of the game at French School Meadows on Saturday.
The joint-skipper was able to put the hosts in front with a 67th minute header from Sam Green’s long throw.
Burnham make the short journey to Stag Meadow next to play Windsor in a league fixture on Saturday.
