Flackwell Heath in top condition on and off the pitch, says boss Marcus Richardson

Having opened the new Hellenic Premier season with three wins and just one defeat, boss Marcus Richardson feels Flackwell Heath are in the best condition on and off the pitch.

Richardson prides himself on managing a hard-working team and he certainly seems to have established the Heathens as one so far this campaign.

Victories against Windsor, Virginia Water and Tuffley Rovers have put Flackwell in sixth place with their only loss of the season coming against table toppers Binfield last Tuesday.

They were due to play Holmer Green on Saturday but the match was called off due to adverse weather conditions.

“I’ve been at Flackwell for a few years now but only now do I feel that we’re really going to push on,” admitted Richardson.

“I’ve got a great squad and a great management team to lead us in the right direction. Everything I wanted to put into place, I have virtually done so slowly but surely.”

“It was disappointing to lose (ex-captain) Dan Bailey because he’s a great leader but the lads have really stepped up since,” added Richardson.

“Josh Baines has taken the armband and he’s really shown great leadership quality.

“All my lads believe in each other, want to work for each other, and they’ve got great chemistry. They understand that when they do that, they will reap the rewards and it has shown so far this season.”

Flackwell host Desborough Town in the FA Vase second qualifying round this Saturday. Kickoff is at 3pm.
