Burnham Junior FC’s u9s Reds team are well on their way to completing a marathon challenge for charity.
Due to the current government restrictions the club is unable to meet up for its weekly training sessions, but the players have continued to develop their footy skills with coaches on the Zoom video app.
Last week the u9s team collectively decided to take on a challenge for the mental health charity MIND. Over the next eight weeks each player is committed to running the distance of a marathon, quite a feat for this group of seven and eight year olds.
The team’s coach, Richard Earl, said: “It would be fantastic if the team could help raise a huge amount of money for MIND. I know they would all be very proud whilst also completing a big challenge.
“We set a target of £500 and we’re already three quarters of the way to our target.”
