Team Pythagoras hoping to live up to the hypotenuse for Cracker Challenge

The first team gearing up for our Cracker Challenge has said it is ‘in it to win it’.

A team of eight from Pythagoras, based in Grove Park Industrial Estate, an IT company specialising in service solutions has signed up for the challenge, hoping to win the trophy.

The event, run in partnership with the Magnet Leisure Centre, will take place at SportsAble in Braywick Park on Thursday, June 30, from 6pm and money raised will go towards the newspaper’s annual Cracker Appeal.

The challenge will see teams of six to eight people compete against each other in a number of 15-minute events including five-a-side football and volleyball.

The team from Pythagoras is made up of Claire Pearce, Josh Baker, Indy Singh, Lee Drinkwater, Tony Dickinson,  Ben Emmett,  Matthew Steer and Richard Davies.

Claire who is a content marketing executive set the team up after hearing about the cracker challenge on Twitter.

She said: “I asked who would be up for it and by the end of the day we had a team.

“We’re all quite sporty and it fits in with a fitness program that we did at work where we all tried to do a mile a day and to keep more hydrated.

“It’s an incentive to get everyone out and away from their computer screens.

“We’re absolutely in it to win it”

The overall winners will be crowned the 2016 Charity Challenge Champions and there will also be a post-challenge barbecue and a subsidised bar.

The cost to enter is £100 per team, every penny of which goes to the appeal which supports the elderly and children in our community.
