‘Immediate action required’ as flood warning issued for Colnbrook

UPDATE:

Thames Valley Police has urged drivers to avoid the flooded roads in Holyport.

Ascot Road is closed from Holyport College up to the village due to floodwater. Flooding is also bad in Moneyrow Green.

A Thames Valley Police spokeswoman said: "Drivers are urged to take extra caution while driving and adjust their speed according to the conditions.

"Please observe road closures as they have been put in place for a reason, and do not drive through them.

"Stay safe and remain cautious when undertaking journeys in affected areas and avoid driving through floodwater. The water is often deeper than it looks and can be fast-moving."

Maidenhead experienced a night of heavy rainfall which came to an end at about 9am, contributing to the floods.

In the previous 24 hours, 23.3mm of rainfall came down in Maidenhead, making it the wettest January day the town has seen since 1958.

A road has been flooded in Holyport following rainfall last night.

Traffic has been disrupted in the village by the flood, with Ascot Road becoming inaccessible.

On social media this morning, Holyport College advised students and staff to travel to the school using different routes.

More updates to follow.
