MAIDENHEAD UNITED JUNIORS

The younger age groups of the Maidenhead United Juniors enjoyed their football in the sunshine over the weekend.

The u8s Colts began their campaign with a really great effort against the Harefield United Reds at home.

Everyone looked excited to be back on the field and player of the match (POTM) went to Yoan for his two great goals and sheer determination throughout

The u8s Blacks put up a spirited fight throughout their match against the Berkshire Elite Diamonds.

Manager George was incredibly proud of each and every player for their character and determination, playing with their hearts to the final whistle.

The u9s Blacks followed up last week’s success with another good display away to Berks County Pythons.

POTM went to Liam in defence who tackled brilliantly and looked very assured on the ball, starting attacks from the back.

The u9s Whites played out a nine-goal thriller away to Pinewood Pumas.

Players’ Player of the Match was Jude for his two great goals, one a deft volley with the outside of his boot.

Manager’s Player of the Match was Finley who scored a goal and was instrumental in several key passing moves.

U9s Juniors put in a solid performance against Sandgate.

POTM went to Thomas who played very well in defence not allowing the opposition any chance at all to develop their attacks.

There was a triumphant outing for the u9s Galaxy against Wargrave Wolves.

POTM went to Aadam for his superb goals and his energy in the second half.

THAMES VALLEY DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE

The Thames Valley Football Development League started its new season on Sunday with strict new protocols in place to counter the risk of COVID-19.

Match organisers were asked to minimise the amount of player contact and kicks-ins replaced throw-ins to limit the number of players handling the football.

Three matches were played in Division 1 of the u12s competition, with Burnham Juniors Sabres Yellows earning a 4-1 home win over Berkshire Elite Black and the Golden Eagles beating Harefield United Youth 5-1.

The Slough Town Juniors also cruised to an 8-0 win over Singh Sabha.

In Division 2 the FC Holyport Warriors u12s secured a 3-0 win over Maidenhead United Junior Cobras, with Lewis Balfe, Saara Chaudhri and Robert Hern on target.

A cagey first half gave way to a more entertaining second which saw Balfe fire the Warriors ahead with a low shot from just outside the area.

Late goals from Chaudhri and Hern then made victory for the Warriors certain.

In the other u12s Division 2 matches Burnham Junior Sabres Whites defeated FC Cippenham Leopards 3-0, Frontline edged the Golden Eagles Flyers 4-3, RedKore beat the Maidenhead Warriors 2-1 and Thames Valley Youth were 3-1 winners against Chalfont Saints United.
