Just prior to lockdown Singh Sabha's Sunday team progressed to the semi-finals of the Bob Smith cup after a comprehensive 3-0 win over Langley Galaxy.

A brace from Pritpal Raju and a sweet strike from Bobby Samra sealed a comprehensive win for a Sabha side who've been in growing in confidence.

With the Saturday game unplayable due to poor weather, Sabha were able to pick from a strong squad and they started strongly, with Mubarak Bashir causing the Galaxy defence all sorts of problems.

It wasn't long before they took the lead, Raju sweeping home Bashir's low cross after a lightning-quick counterattack. Hassan Mahmood went close a few minutes later before tempers flared with players on both teams shown yellow cards.

Sabha had their keeper Andrei Tonca to thank for denying Kyle Jeffrey's header before deep into first half stoppage time they were awarded a penalty when a Galaxy player was adjudged to have handled in the area. Raju kept his nerve, steering home Sabha's second to give them a cushion at the interval.

Galaxy raised their game in a cagier second half affair, with former Windsor striker Barry Dunbar denied twice by Tonca's save and then Bobby Samra's goalline clearance.

Riccardo Cannon and Jovan Bains produced solid displays in defence for Sabha to repel the visitors and the lead was sealed late on when Raju provided for Samra to fire home from the edge of the box. Galaxy were presented with a late chance of a consolation from the penalty spot, but their striker fired his spot kick against the bar, and it bounced back out to safety.

A good win for Sabha with the league now into a month-long lockdown.
