Youth football round-up: Sellman scores six as Maidenhead B&G Panthers u13s beat Berks Elite Gold

Maidenhead Boys & Girls FC

Rowan Sellman was named player of the match (POTM) after scoring six goals in Maidenhead B&G u13s Panthers’ 7-2 home win over Berks Elite Gold. Senna Anagho grabbed the side’s other goal as the hosts cruised to victory in their EBFA Section G clash.

Manager Roland McGill said: “All the boys had a good workout. The boys at the back held steady against some talented players and going forward we were good and stretched the opposition, particularly in the second half.

“Callum Marques made some good saves on his debut, early in the game, when it looked like the result could go either way. Well done Callum.”

Elsewhere the u18s Santos were beaten 3-0 at home by Curley Park Rangers in Division 3. The u17s Boys lost by the same scoreline away to Burghfield Blues in Division 2, while the u16s Cobras picked up a point following a 3-3 draw at Sandhurst Town Royals. The u15s Colts lost 5-1 at home to Finchampstead Panthers in Division 6, Justin Duffy scoring the side’s consolation.

There was a 3-1 win for the u14s Sharks over Whitegrove & Warfield Saints in Division 8 while the u13s Foxes won 7-4 away at AFC Henley Hotspur.

The u12s Dragons were beaten 3-0 by Calcot Royals in Division 1 while the u12s Jaguars edged out Caversham AFC Dragons 1-0 in Division 2.

The u12s Girls were beaten 2-0 away by Wargrave Hurricanes in Division 1 and the u13s Girls beat Thatham & Newbury Town Blue 4-3 at home. There was also an emphatic 9-1 win for the u15s Girls over AFC Reading in a friendly match.

Maidenhead United Juniors

Maidenhead United Juniors coach Jordan was full of praise for his u7s Colts team as they netted some fantastic goals in this weekend’s match.

Shay was clinical in front of goal, scoring six, while Jack and Grace also found the target.

Reflecting on the performance, Jordan said: “Where to start? Thomas in goal made some fantastic saves. Guy and Henry both played outstandingly, getting that ball out of play and some great tackles. Well done to the wingers, up and down like yo-yos – Jack, Shay, Oliver, and Grace. Shay scored six goals to add to goals from Jack and Grace. Player of the Match went to Jack for his outstanding tackles and the attitude of never giving up.”

The u7s Magpies dominated their match against the Heart of Teddlothian this weekend.

Using the full width of the pitch they stretched their opponents well and Luke scored an impressive hat-trick to add to his growing tally of goals this season.

The Magpies remained on the front foot and Liam and Harry both added to the scoresheet. Defensively the side have also become a solid unit this campaign.

POTM was Harry, who scored his first goal for the team and produced an excellent display in defence and attack.

The u8s Colts travelled to play George Green this weekend where Fin turned the game in their favour with a quick-fire hat-trick.

Thames Valley Development League

Only a handful of games survived the wet weather on Sunday, but some teams braved the elements to play their Thames Valley Football Development League matches.

At u11s development level, Singh Sabha enjoyed a convincing 6-3 win over S4K Wolves while the Delaford Colts picked up an important 3-1 away win over Cookham Dean Dynamos.

In the u12s competition Slough Town Juniors edged out the Golden Eagles 3-2 to move top of Division 1.

In other u12s matches Townmead defeated RedKore 4-1, FC Cippenham were 3-0 winners over Golden Eagle Flyers at home and Maidenhead United Cobras were beaten 6-1 at home by Burnham Junior Sabres White.

In Division 2 FC Holyport Warriors u12s beat Thames Valley Youth 6-2 in a clash that was closer than the scoreline suggests. Despite wet conditions underfoot both sides were able to display their attacking qualities and Thames Valley were on top for long spells in the second half only to concede a late flurry of goals as Holyport pulled away for victory.
